Same here. Fake number, fake name. Didn't leave a message (thank goodness). I never answer these calls as trying to stop them by whatever method just doesn't seem to work.
I too got a call from these jokers today,but all they got from me was a hangup after 8 seconds by my new Digitone Call Blocker system.I am able to block a combination of 80 individual numbers or ENTIRE area codes.The system records all incoming numbers so I still have a record of telemarketers that I report to the FCC and DNC list.I have blocked 20 area codes.I don't know anybody in those areas.My phone hardly EVER rings now unless it's a local call which generally shows a name in Caller ID.There is a bottom-feeding debt collector in Maryland who calls almost EVERY day.When they 1st started calling,they asked for a person I didn't know and I told them so and not to call me again.Of course they think I'm lying & they call different hours of the day.I sit here and laugh my butt off because my phone never rings.They are SO STUPID.You'd think they'd figure out by now they are blocked.They can call till the end of time and our phone will NEVER make a sound and they just get hung up on.Poor dumb [***]! I don't know if it's really "fighting back," but it's what I do. I have caller id and this one showed up as "Financial Center". I've gotten calls from my credit card company when they were concerned about fraud on my account and they leave a message, so I just let this one go to voicemail. No message, so I searched on the number and got here. Now... Into the "call block" list it goes. Next time they call, it'll ring once, then the caller id information arrives and --poof-- it's blocked. Fighting back would be finding out who's behind it and doing the same to them on all their phones. Where's Anonymous when you need them? :)
Am I filling this out just for the purpose of posting or someone actually doing something about the endless calls for this and other numbers re credit cards. What use is the "Do Not Call List" ?
Jack Shitte you are right I have the Panasonic phone and they work great blocking these unwanted numbers, the phone will ring you one time to let you know a blocked number is calling and then will switch to a busy tone, they can't even leave a message. Thanks Panasonic I love your phone.
