I got calls twice from people that have heavy accent, could be from another country, pretending to be calling from Orange County Law Group & Excel Law Office Tampa Florida.
I spoke to someone named Edwin Carter and said that I have a case# that will be loading to the court house that I owed money to QuickPay.com. I don't even know the company. While I was talking to him, he hung up twice so I called back ad I was told by someone that answer the phoene to shut up.
I received a call on my cell phone and my office line from some claiming to be Jeffery Stewart with the Cyber Crime Unit. He informed me I had an affidavit to appear in court "tomorrow" which is impossible because that would be an appearance date over the weekend. When I pressed the person on the other end to identify himself he stated that emails had been sent to my email address from the "National Business Service" or "NBS." This so called person named Jeffery Stewart raised his voice and badgered me and then said that he was going to transfer me to his supervisor.
After talking to the supervisor who did not know my name and asked for my last name to pull up my records I felt I was being scammed. I stated that the last individual whom I spoke with had my name, my email address and my social security number.
Watch out folks - I've already alerted Equifax of the potential fraud to my SSN and to notify me of any new accounts being opened.
I received a call at work stating that I owed this money and that I would have to pay to keep from being prosecuted. I was like WHAT!!!! She went on to say that I would be picked up from work by the sheriff Department and to call Jeffery Stewart back regarding this debt im still in shock so I tried to call the number back and got no answer that is when I thought I may be getting scammed
I recieved a call on 1/29/10 from a man with a very heavy accent saying that there is going to be legal action taken out on me due to some payday loan. The man identifed himself as Mr. Jeffery Stewart from the Cyber Crime Unit. I asked Mr. "Stewart" several questions about this matter because he wasnt making any sense with his information and claims he connected me to his "supervisor" who then connected me to his "supervisor". By time its was all said and done with these people told me that if I pay them one thousand dollars right now the matter would be resolved. I spoken to three heavy accented men who two out the three sounded the like the same person. They had all my personal information and threated me claiming that I was the one commiting fraud. They also hung up on me when i requested a orginal certifed sign document with my signature saying that i agreed to terms and conditions of a loan with them . I plan on taking action against these people for their scam and harrassment.
Let me know how that goes. I would love to prosecute also, but I think it will be nearly impossible. I was given the same run down. They had called my work the day before under a different business name and gave me the same spill. Today they called with the same information, but different business name. I guess they think I have stupid stamped on my forehead!
