Ok, with the thing with Dish Network: They do have a right to call you if you have contacted them for information. HOWEVER, if you have requested to be removed from thier calling list personally they must do so within 30 days of the request or they are violating the state and federal DNC list. The only people that are allowed to call you after the 30 days request of the Federal DNC list are:
1. Charities
2. Non-profit
3. Surveyors refraining from selling
4. Political organizations
5. Established business relationships (companies you do business with or inquired about).
If any company refuses to give you information such as:
1. The callers first and last name
2. Company phone number, address, name, etc.
3. Reason for the call
4. Other identifiable information
There is good reason to believe that it is not a reliable or trustworthy company or sales person. End the call by hanging up and collect all the information you did or can get, such as caller ID names and numbers. Know I know not all companies have the number listed (some use multiple lines so that just block it or give an 800 number). If this is a problem with your caller ID, call your phone company and ask for a "no blocked calls" to be placed on your number.
I DON'T even own a car at all, and I get these calls a few times each week

Recorded message said I needed to update my car warranty or I could be responsible for past repair bills on the vehicle. I pressed 2 as advised and spoke with a real person. I asked why they were calling me and how they got my number. I was asked what type of car I had. I responded a Taurus, an Acura and a Honda. Which one was she calling about? She hung up. Does anyone know where I can report the number and help stop these kinds of calls?
I also recieved this call, but the recording was left on my answering machine, as I was at work when they called. I was frantic trying to figure out who the call was from...Thanks so much for this site :)
from Erin (refuses to give last name)of "Extended Auto Warranty". I punched in the number to speak with a representative. When advised that her employer is breaking the law by calling me and subject to fines, she claimed that the reason they're calling is that I'm NOT on the do not call list. When I said I was, she asked if I was paying the monthly fee. When advised there is no monthly fee, she retorted, "Yes there is. That's why you're not on it -- because you're not paying for it." Then she hung up.
