If you hit any button it only verifies that #1. they reached a real number. #2. That you are the kind of person that listens to the message and follows directions. #3 this means they add your number to MANY MORE LISTS.
I wouldn't recommend the do not call registry, I have gotten 10x the calls since adding my number to that stupid list, I just bought a phone with a call block on it, sad, hate telemarketers and scammers with a passion
They called me, too. Robocall leaving a voice message... Been registered with the National DNC for years following several renewals. Same stuff: lower the interest rate for my "credit card" (issuer/bank not specified), no information regarding who they were or why or how it came to be that they were calling me (still, the call was some sort of "final notice"). Go to donotcall.gov and file a complaint if your number has been registered for at least 31 days.
Just got a call from this number. They've called sooooo many times! I finally answered, press one, when the person answered and did his first sentence or two and asked if I was interested, I said I was interested in getting my number removed from their call list. His response, and I quote, "go [***] yourself". I couldn't believe my ears.
How in the world are these people still in business? How do we get them to stop this crap?
Just received the same call, was doing exactly what you wrote. Press one to remove my phone number and the person on the other end called me a F**king idiot and hung up! So I just filed a complaint with donotcall.gov. Hope it helps
