These folks are definitely scam artists! We have been getting daily calls--usually late morning/early PM--but haven't answered due to not recognizing the #. This AM (Sat., 3/29/14) they called again & once more left no msg.--final straw. Called them back & reached a recording saying we were called re: "renewing" our "Prevention" magazine (which we subscribed to a couple years ago but no longer get). Message left a Customer Svc. # to call if we wanted to talk to someone re: the call. We called that #: 1-800-985-3467 and reached a woman (failed to write down name). Explained we were on the DO NOT CALL list, were NOT current subscribers to mag/did NOT want to renew & asked to be removed from calling list! (Added that we'd be reporting their activity, as well.) At that point, Cust. Svc. agent tried to say some activities don't fall under "Do Not Call" regs. & that they are really "Dial America" calling to ask for a magazine renewal to "...benefit a charity (unnamed)!" Talk about a scam! Of course, I pointed out how the recorded message at the first # (201-257-4065) contradicted that fact + said they were harassing folks! She apologized; took phone # & said it would be "removed from their list."
My advice: call the Customer Service # I was given (1-800-985-3467) & ask to be removed from their "list" (however it was obtained)--and file a complaint via "Do Not Call" website/FTC. There SHOULD be a law to prevent this! (BTW--We NEVER donate to a charity or purchase a product such as this which purports to "benefit" charity, as this Cust. Svc. agent claimed. The bulk of the money goes for administrative overhead, e.g. paying the salaries of "DialAmerica" staff!)
