The man claimed he was an actual "officer." They had called before and ask how much money we want to donate to the state police. My mom laughed at them & said "are you kidding me?"
Claim they are a NEW JERSEY POLICE OFICERS association. I let them do their talk, including pressing me for a definite donation level of $15 before sending materials to me. I asked a very simple question: HOW DID YOU GET MY PHONE NUMBER? They stalled, put me on hold, then asked for the "MAN IN THE HOUSE". I calmly asked again as to how they got my phone number...then the line went silent.
Got a call last night about 7:30. Didn't recognize it and I didn't pick up. They left no message. That's how you kind of know it's not legitimate. Someone legitimate leaves a message or a real name on the called ID. We Have no Idea how they got our phone number. Caller ID just said Bayonne. As I looked it up online, I found out it is a scam. I have blocked the number. We are on the DNC list.
