The man claimed he was an actual "officer." They had called before and ask how much money we want to donate to the state police. My mom laughed at them & said "are you kidding me?"
We got a call from this number some time ago. Told them we never donate over phone and to send info to us. They sent a pledge letter with $20.00 pledge. We don't have that kind of money so I decided to do a little research before giving them anything. Looks like they only use a small portion of their money for charity - looks like almost all of it goes for "administrative" costs. (Make that read someone's pockets") The police even tell us that they will never solicit money via phone. These people are very fast talking and put lots of pressure on you - it was even hard to tell them we wouldn't donate without something coming to us in writing.
