Judging by the accents, they are calling from overseas. So the phone numbers that appear are just spoofed numbers. I've gotten almost a dozen calls for this scam from many different numbers. I guess that my phone number must have been put on some mailing list and sold to all these boiler rooms.
It's more fun if you play along with the idiots trying to pull the Windows service scam. Let them go through their pitch without actually following their directions. When they get to the part where they ask you to tell them what is displayed on the monitor, simply say "It's a bunch of letters and numbers." Then slowly read these letters: "4 Q N 4 Q 2." Even with their ESL, they'll quickly figure out what you're saying and curse you out. Pisses them off to no end 'cause they thought they had a sucker, but you licked them good. Plus, it wastes their time and you save someone else from possibly getting scammed.
Heavy Middle East or Indian accent? Said they were from Microsoft??? Yeah, right. If Microsfot ever found an issue,they'd simply push put a fix. Anyhow, I told them they were scammers and kept yelling at the dude until he hung up. Next time I might try the stupid route just to see how long they put up with me. How do I turn thecmputer on?
don't even try to call back the phone number does not ring. It has been appearing along with some company with a 527-214-1012 0r 1014 Can't understand the Indian accent, 6 times in the past two days and three times I actually answered and said remove this number, I am on the do not call list
This number called today saying they're with Microsoft and tried to get me to run the eventvwr command on my PC. I strung the guy along for a while knowing it was a scam. Eventually he realized I was messing with him and hung up. Whatever you do, don't fall for it. This is one week after I received similar calls supposedly from Verizon trying to phish some information from me for a $63 credit. Now to figure out where they got my numbers from recently.
Got the call this morning saying they were from "Window's" and "I had a computer problem" ..lol..I started laughing and really loud and they hung up..lol. By the way..if I had a problem with my computer I would know it, not some guy from India..lol.
