Left a message pitching some kind of emergency medical alert system for senior citizens. An authoritative-sounding voice engages in scaremongering of seniors, talking about a supposed rise in injuries at home and saying "press 1 and you'll never have to feel helpless, worried, or by yourself in an emergency situation." It also claims it's providing a free service for seniors, but I don't think anybody should believe that one for a second. Supposedly if you press 5, you'll be removed from their calling list. Yeah, right, sure!
Just got a call from them I did not answer. I have no business in Rutherford where the call came from. It's probably another company that does not care about the law, the Do Not Call list is like any other law. It only applies to criminals when and if they get caught.
Just a note for anyone with elderly family members:
Sometimes calls like this are just scam's to get older people to open up and divulge personal information to facilitate identity theft by this crooks. My mother in law was taken in once so let them know to be careful.
Thanks to D. Hull and Bill H for posting the description of the call.
