I received in incoming call from 201-408-7062 yesterday at 2:57 p.m. EST. The caller ID said "Englewood NJ." It was an Asian-sounding man saying something like, "This is tech support. We're calling to troubleshoot your computer." I said, "This is who?" He repeated himself and then asked, "Are you having trouble with your computer?" I said, "noO." He said, "Thank you," and hung up. I don't know if he called in error or whether he was going to try to ask me for remote access to my system so he could get personal information off my computer or not. He may have misdialed, or, it may have been a scam attempt.
Tried to call and pay my mortgage. Got these people wanting to give me $100 gift card. Said was a 3.95 fee. Gave them my card info. Now scared they will get my account!! Scam I would not verify any info and hung up . They called back many times .did not answer.
Tried calling the straight talk number a representative gave me when the phone hung up it led me right to this scam. Obviously she knew it would go to them and wanted me to call it.
I called to activate my credit card and was somehow rerouted to this #. He wanted $4.95 to activate a free $100 gift card for me. I hung up and he called back 5 times. I didn't answer. I dialed again to activate my credit card and got thru to the right #
This guy called me too, sounded asian. told me a won $100 rebate card. I asked what my obligation was. He said no strings. I asked name of his company and he said Identity Theft Protection Inc!!!! Then asked for my credit card for a small $4 activation fee. I said not interested and hung up. He tried calling back and I hung up again. Such nerve.
