It is the first of the month so now it is time for these people to try scam you when they think you have money!
There is NO REASON ANY collection agency should be calling my number. I have had it for years and these harassing calls, asking for random people who owe random amounts of money to random organizations, have just been coming out of nowhere.
My phone has a block number limitation but with jerks like these, it is no surprise that it is full.
Calling at 6:30 am!!! I do believe that under the fair debt act they are not allowed to call before 8am. I have no idea who this is...but if it does not stop I am going to change my phone #... this is ridiculous!
First of all, those that are calling are using deceit and shadiness to pull information out of someone before THEY mention who they are and what they are calling for. Here's how my call went down:
``Hello?
Hi, is this Bandit?
``Yeah...?
Are you still receiving mail at (my address)?
``What's this pretaining to?
It's pretaining to whether or not you still get mail at (my address)...
``Who are you??
Oswald.
``Excuse me?
My name is Oswald.
``What's the nature of your call Oswald?
Sir, why are you getting so cynical?
``Because of the day and age we live in where identity theft is a real thing, plus I don't know you and the only other Oswald I knew died 5 years ago.
Sir, just tell me if you still get mail at...
``No, Oswald. YOU have ten seconds to explain the nature of this call, or I will hang up.
Obviously you don't want to continue this conversa-
``Yep. Bye. <click!>
Now, I wasn't rude to this gentleman. He REFUSED to tell me who he was (three times) representing and why he was calling. Do I have an outstanding debt? Heck yes I do. Will I respond to these shady callers? Heck no I won't. If he isn't going to tell me anything beyond his name, then he can save a both a crap load of time by not calling at all. If such is the case, then anyone can call anyone else, say they are whomever they want to claim to be and idiots out there will give over SSN, DL#, address, DoB...seriously...don't be stupid. Have them mail you something, AND ask them for a number to get back to them.
The only reason I found this link was because I saved the number on my phone. I'll answer it again, but if they aren't going to tell me who they are representing then I'm hanging up. It's that simple....it can't be considered "refusal" if I don't kow who I'm refusing. Loop hole. LAWYERED.
I called THEM back and hung up about 10 times in a row until the little man got so mad he threatened to call the cops on me. now ya know how it feels moron!!! get the right number before you start harrassing people you shouldn't be harrassing!!!! and DON'T DISH IT OUT UNLESS YOU CAN TAKE IT IN!!!!
