Arnt you funny. A tool?? First off I know for a fact that the person you responded to is not a tool, nor do they work for a collection agency. Second off your telling people not to listen to someone who tells them to pay thier bills, wow you must be a collection agencys dream. How many bad debts do you have out there?? Yes everyone gets an opinion, however the law states that if you do not pay your loans, debts and car payments that the company you get your loan from can contract your information to whowever they use to collect thier debts, if you don't want collectors calling you then its very simple, dont overspend, don't over buy and pay your debts!! But don't listen to me, I am just one of thoes people who actually knows their limits, has a good credit score and have never been called by a collection agency because I defaulted on a loan.
Don't be so smug. When people call me and harass me over something that I don't owe now, and never did, I have a right to complain about it. Your two cents is no better than anyone elses', and it does sound as if you own, or work for this smarmy company. Give it up. Just because someone wants me to pay them, does not mean I owe them squat.
How is that people cannot be polite anymore. If you do not owe anything to a bank or car company then ask what company the collector is calling on behalf of and call that company yourself. Unless you have had the same phone number for 20 years, collectors just call the number that is on the record they are given by the companies that contract them to collect their debts. Have you ever had someone call for someone else and then told the person they got the wrong number?? This is the same thing that happens with collectors. Personally I work for a phone company and often the number on a persons account does not always match their actual working phone number, this is because they have changed their number and have not updated their account, it can be a headach to find out why Mr. Smiths internet is not working when you can't find their account by the phone number they are giveing you. I know how annoying wrong numbers can be, but my parents taught me to be polite. There is also a thing called a DNC list incase you did not know. I received a call from this collection agency, they were looking for someone who had my phone number before I did, I let them know this and asked who the debtor was, they told me and I called the company, I let that company know that the person who defaulted on the loan was not me and that I had this phone number for over a year. I have never received another phone call from this collection agency or the original debtor. You attract more flies with honey then vinegar.
I have received calls from the Constar Collection services New Jersey Office for debts that are not mine. I explained to the caller, twice on the same day that I was not the person they were looking for and this was not that person's phone number. The person they are looking for has a simular name name but the caller gave me the last 4 digits of the alleged debetor's SSN and it was not mine. On the second call the person all but called me a liar and stated that it was me that owed the debt. At this point I explained emphatically that it was not me and asked if they had the birth date of the person they were fryiing to contact. I am 70 years old and they are trying to collect a debt related to Harley Davison for a motor cycle I presume. I have never bought, owned, ridden or plan to ride or own a Harley much less go into debt for one. they of course did not have the birth date. I don't finance anything and have not for a lot of years. The person was a apparently a New Jersey female who was not happy with or very good at her job. She finally hung up on me. If I get a third call I plan to contact my attorney and seek legal advice as to what recource I might have against Constar Financial Services.
I feel sorry for people who for whatever reason, either out of necessity or choice, work for one of these
collection agencies....at any rate I found this one very obstinant and unpleasant to talk to. I don't know where you are from but in Texas we are a little more polite and respectful and do not make accusations without sufficient knowledge or evidwence. .
I am dealing with these calls also. I am in a suit against the people they are trying to collect for (CitiFinancial). I had received a letter and called them right away...since it was a good thing for my suit ☺ Anyway, I called them back. (before this I had not received a call from them) Now I am getting several calls a day from different people. After the first few calls and telling them I was fighting this and them telling me I cannot fight it I need to pay it to get the calls to stop...I called the original person that I spoke with and he "removed" my number from the call list....(that is yet to be determined.) Also, while chatting he casually asked questions to get info...I really didnt say....but some of it was info that was OLD and weird...so I asked how he came up with this info and he said "Google search".....also I requested proof from him on this debt...as I need it for Attny.and he stated he had to request from the company....LMAO good luck with that one.
So...I suggest that before u pay anything make them provide ALLLLL information regarding the debt....then check everything....ie did u sign something stating u would pay....was there other circumstances....
The cannot file against you without proving that you owe!!!! Make them PROVE it...
