Received calls repeatedly from this number.
They say they are associated with reputable companies but when I checked that out it wasn't so...
They are a total scam.
Buyers/Homeowners beware!!!
Thank you David for explaining what company they are calling for - supposedly. They told me "we are coming next week to check several homes in your area for insurance purposes - checking home exhaust systems." They do not identify with any chimney stuff - although, now I understand it is a scam anyways. Since they couldn't say WHICH insurance company - i knew it wasn't ours or a particular one. That was my tip-off. Of course, they can always take a step farther and lie about which insurance company and hope it matches the homeowner - but then, they'd end up on the news again having to explain what the heck they were doing inside people's homes in the first place since they are not a legitimate company nor do they do legitimate business. Does the Governor of NJ know that Chicago, DC, Fla, and NJ are becoming synonymous with scam calling? Isn't there a simple way (after only 2 calls ) for the police department to write the number down and go after them? Maybe they do? Or maybe, enough get away with this for years? The elderly should be the last to be scammed - not the first. Does AARP warn people of these numbers to look out for? They should! They could have them blocked in the first place.
caller first asks for my 7 yr old son then asks for Mr or Mrs ___ then says "exhaust pipe for heater" needs replacement, verifies our address then asks if he can come out tomorrow. Bad connection once I asks what company he worked for and rambled off a couple random name then lost connection. Scary and creepy!
Suspect possible theft at my home if I agreed to appt!!
Set up the appointment. Now waiting for them to show up on Monday. Me and the local police will be waiting for them. Hope they got bail money..........
