Received a phone call this morning re: the same intro. I knew that this was a scam because our caller ID showed 000-0000-0000. I began to play along and asked him his name, "Adam Peterson," with an East Indian accent. I asked for his number just in case we got disconnected and he gave me, 201-588-3343. I asked him why was my caller ID number displayed as a bunch of zeroes and there was a hesitation and then a hang up. Darn! I wanted to have fun with the guy, but he did not want to play my game. Next time.
Got this call at 1:00 pm CST, 11 Aug 15. The India(n) accented person said he was from Windows technical department and that they were getting a message that my computer was not working correctly. I told him this sounded like a scam and he immediately read off my name and phone correctly. I asked him for a number to call him back on and he gave me (201) 588-3343. I Googled the number and found this page. I told him that he was a scammer and he hung up.
