i got a call today too ,but i'm new to my computer and i thought they will help me and i let them and gave then my visa number, that i shouldn't have done that ,well i'll be fine, that what i'm thought i was buying something that will protect my computer so it cost 79.99 canadian dollars.
Received a phone call from this number today and was told that a major virus had compromised my computer. Caller asked me to enter in a serial number so that they could get into my computer and fix the virus. When I asked them to provide me with my personal information, they gave me an incorrect name and address. I asked them for a call back number and the caller told me it was his supervisors number. I did not call back as I already got the sense that it was a scam. If you receive a call from this number stating that you have a virus, DO NOT LISTEN.
Also received a call from this number stating that my computer was about to crash and I needed to let him fix it. He had a very heavy accent and I had trouble understanding him but I knew it was a scam
because he was getting angry with me when I told him that this sounded very fishy and that I was going to report this number to the authorities. Please hang up, do not engage once you let them into your computer, who knows what they will do.
Received a call from 2016203170 at 10:45PM at night...inapropriate time as it was. Was on the other line so I did not answer, however have had a few friends get this call and where told that they had computer problems and that these fine folks were going to help. Rather..help you out of what little money you have on your credit cards etc! SCAM SCAM!
Do not give them any info. Report it to the authorities. I have, and we have spread the word to watch out for these scammers.
same as the rest said that i had malware and that he needed to fix it told him my brother is a network engineer and he didnt know what that was HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA
4/2/2012 Got a call today saying I had computer errors and asking me to run the event viewer, showing there were errors. Then they asked me to run www.support.me which I wouldn't do. I asked for their phone number, which was this 201 number, which I reached, but I couldn't learn anything from them. The accents are very thick, perhaps Chinese, and hard to understand. The .me suffix seems to be a new personal suffix, as in "me," and not a country as I had guessed.
