When you get these kinds of texts - contact the financial institution through their website. Most utilize IT services that take down the false sites, phone systems, etc. Do not respond to the text. Also you should really think about how or where you are using your phone number to try and determine how the scammers got your number in the first place. Don't blame the credit unions or banks if you are not a customer - they would not have your information anyways.
"Dear FedChoice Federal Credit Union Customer, we regret to inform you that we had to lock your bank account access. Call 201-620-6323 to restore your account"
Got a text from this number last night stating that my credit union account was locked. This sounds like a scam to me, therefore I will not return the call.
I received the same text message from the same phone number. Do not call it. It is a scam. The National Association of Federal Credit Unions has issued a nationwide warning about this scam. Here's a link about the scam from FedChoice: https://www.fedchoice.org/main.asp?page=969
