I received the same text message from the same phone number. Do not call it. It is a scam. The National Association of Federal Credit Unions has issued a nationwide warning about this scam. Here's a link about the scam from FedChoice: https://www.fedchoice.org/main.asp?page=969
The scam is not coming from the credit unions or banks - the scam is from overseas - they steal phone numbers in the US and put up bogus voice systems to steal your information. They pick different credit union or bank names and just do a shotgun effect. Why would a legitimate financial institution send you a text or email about your balance if you did not have an account there. The scammers use legitimate names to try to trick you. Most financial institutions will never ever never ever never never send you a text unless you have signed up for special account alerts and even then you would be aware of what the content would be.
When you get these kinds of texts - contact the financial institution through their website. Most utilize IT services that take down the false sites, phone systems, etc. Do not respond to the text. Also you should really think about how or where you are using your phone number to try and determine how the scammers got your number in the first place. Don't blame the credit unions or banks if you are not a customer - they would not have your information anyways.
