Police are the only ones who can truly arrest someone for being a scammer and police office around this country don't follow up on them for a few reasons. Most times they are spoofing numbers and impossible to track down. Most also are calling from out of country and in countries that don't care and won't take action anyway. The police do try hard to get the word out about scams they know in the area. They often have their own facebook accounts and twitter and put out bulletins all the time. There are other local fb and twitter accounts made by civilians that also warn people when they learn of something.
I live in one of the lowest crime areas in the country. Had a woman Steal my billfold. Cops who will roll up in 4 different vehicles with guns drawn for loud music or people driving drunk on their bicycles, told me that all that was replaceable and they don't follow up on such things. My bank caught it and the person got away with nothing from my accounts. But still irked me.
Their Caller ID says FREEWHEEL MEDIA, whatever that means. Clearly some type of bogus call. As with calls like this, never answer the phone when you don't recognize a Caller ID that is familiar. Even then , be wary, as those callers often spoof numbers, Area Codes, and their own identity.
