That's not the way to find out if a person is an attorney.
It happens that there IS an attorney currently registered by that exact name in New Jersey, in Jersey City, as a matter of fact. That attorney does have a 201 area code contact number, albeit not the number identified as calling from the number at issue in these posts. The listing says the attorney has been licensed since June, 1985 in New Jersey.
The correct place to go for determining whether an attorney is licensed in New Jersey is:

If you want to find out on-line whether the attorney has been disciplined in New Jersey in the past, the correct place to go is:
http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/oae/discipline.htm
Because their records are stored quarterly as PDF files and cumulative listings are not available after 2010, you may have to go through multiple files to get any disciplinary information, if any exists at all. But the service does provide instructions on how to most efficiently look through the files they provide.
It is entirely conceivable, however, that the person calling you has nothing to do with this attorney and may instead be stealing his identity for their own nefarious purposes. That does seem to be happening with some degree of frequency these days. If so, you may be able to find that out (and do the real attorney a favor, as well) by calling him at the telephone number you will find on the New Jersey Courts website. And if the number given on their website doesn't belong to the attorney or has changed, the NJ Courts would probably like to know that.
First saw an entry on my credit report from National Pay Day Loan. I never used the company. I inquired and applied for a loan but they wanted me to send in my pay stub so I refused and never followed through.
The company tried to take a payment from my account so I changed accounts. Now I get a letter from Charles I. Turner , Esq., asking for payment in full. Going to report them to the BAR association if they are even legal, but I have my letter showing that I did not follow through because they were asking for my documentation. I will be filing charges for malicious prosecution. (201) 670-8851 38 E. Ridgewood Ave. # 395, Ridgewood, NJ 07450 and (800) 356-3713
These people contacted me on my job on so many occassions. Threatening to "garnish wages". Well i did some investigating with the BBB and file a complaint with the Federal Trades Commission and the ACA. These people are nothing but collectors and if you are getting calls from these people on your job, first report it to your HR dept and then give them (HR and the callers)a "revoke letter" stating you revoke them (if they try) to garnish wages unless its the IRS or child support. Then send a "cease and desist letter" to these so called people harassing you and they should stop calling you at work. Little do they know I'm with a government company and recording their calls. If they keep it up I WILL be filing a civil suit against them.
Lovely Linda Banks called me at work and on my cell phone. When I didn't answer she called my mother & sister. Calling on a payday loan and they are illegal in NY... Called her back and of course this stupid woman argued with me. Sure she works for an attorney but the attorney is trying to collect on an paydayillegal loan? Brilliant, gave her my lawyers name & number... Hasn't called him yet. Life is full of surprises! I'm more than ticked off ... Payday lenders & their collectors are bottom feeding people! They need to learn the laws of the land before they trample on people's rights! Stay away from them as they are dirt!
