I was recently called to request "verification of your Google listing, press 1 to confirm, 7 to remove your number from this listing" (end of recording). I pressed 7, so let's see where it goes, but I have no reason to believe that Google would have a desire to contact me, specifically, let alone each and everyone of the users of their many services.
They ask for Google verification, lies. If Google calls they already know who you are.
These companies want your vital information to hijack your Account, or
If you answer a few questions with a "yes" they can put you under
a contract and hold your business hostage while demanding
thousands of dollars.
Also, Pressing those phone number keys can be a verification
of a contract agreement. Do you really want to fight them in
court? Sure they will not win but your attorney fees will be
in the Thousands of dollars also.
Legitimate Google numbers can be found by searching Google,
how about that for a concept.
You will go through hell if you do not hang up and block them.
This number just called with an automated voicemail saying "press 1 to confirm your Google listing and press 7 to be removed from this list." I pressed 1 so I could talk to the Google rep. When they answered they asked who they were speaking with today. I didn't answer and asked where they were calling me from. She hung up on me. Then I googled the phone number and found that it's a scam. NJ Bergen County number.
Here we go. Another day, another dimwit, nitwit, idiot, stupid, moron, nincompoop calling and calling and calling and calling - listening to our entire greeting and then hanging up. Stupid is as stupid does and Google could care less about these scammers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They called today @ 11:30 am. They called from 201-720-0814 @ 4:04 pm on 7/21 and 201-720-0813 @ 4:57 on 8/14. These moron think we are as stupid as they are and will answer their stupid calls if they change the last 4 digits !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Caller ID shows as: Ranking Company, Service Company and Local Services.
