This was a legitimate call from the subscription department at the New York Times. My credit card number was recently stolen, so I had to cancel that card. I had forgotten that my NY Times subscription is automatically charged to my credit card, so I assume a payment didn't go through. The call I received had a terrible connection, and all I could hear was the word "credit card" before they gave up, but my phone showed the caller's number, so I Googled the number, found this Web site, and saw the comment that mentioned the NY Times. It's nice when a suspicious call turns out to be perfectly innocuous!
Add me to the latest list of people being harrassed for stopping my New York Times subscription. The number is 201-750-5498. Anyone up for a class action suit?
I answered and nobody spoke. I canceled NYTimes recently also. I don't know if they think they're going to change my mind or what, but they have no chance if they don't even fricken speak when I pick up the phone.
