Received a call claiming to be with HARP, the affordable home program. Said as a homeowner I may qualify to refinance my home under that program. They took my  DOB, SS#, mortgage amount & said application would be processed & call me back in an hour. Didn't receive a return call so I became suspicious.

By giving an unknown caller all your personal information you are screwed! Why would you do that? And now you put more information on the internet.  WOW!!

You should never ever give anyone cold calling you your information!!!  if these losers have any of your personal information such as your social security number, date of birth or drivers license make sure you register with identity protection notify the credit agencies as well as your banks!! I've flagged your post for admin to remove your personal information. Extortion scammers and criminals do read here..  Never post your info in a public forum like this!

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.
