THIS IS A SCAM. I CALLED AND REQUESTED THE GENTLEMENS AGENT NUMBER PRIOR TO GIVING ANY INFO AND HE RESPONDED WITH : WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO CALL AND ASK ME FOR MY NUMBER: THEN HUNG UP ON ME. (I WORK FOR AN ATTORNEY AND THEYVE BEEN HARASSING OUR CLEINTS )
I received a call from this number requesting over 3,000.00 that I suppose to pay to the IRS...I know I didn't owe any money..I request more information and that got nasty and hung up...BIG SCAM
This scam artist has been calling my sister-in-law posing as an IRS agent trying to collect back taxes. They told her the police was on their way to arrest her. She was freaked out and called me because I'm a tax preparer. I immediately filed a complaint with the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. The complaint can be filed on-line at TIGA.gov
I just got a call from this number and as many of you have reported, he said that he was from the IRS and he sent me a letter last year (never received) and because I didn't respond to it, he is sending a case officer to my house to arrest me. He said the purpose of the call was to find out my attorney information. I got testy with him and told him that I wanted him to email me the letter that he previously sent. He said that I would need to get it from the case officer and said goodbye and hung up. I don't expect a case officer to show up. By the way, he had a definite foreign accent. He mispronounced many words including my name and address.
Caller had foreign (middle-east?) accent wanting lawyers number. Gave me two hours to get one and call him back or else Police would arrest. I called local PD and officer had multiple callers stating the same call and MO. DO NOT give him your attorneys number. Call the IRS yourself by looking up their phone number in the phone book or IRS.gov.
