I have received 2 phone calls over the last two days from an "Unknown Caller". The man said he needed to fax a subpoena to my lawyer, and that I was required to show up to court in California. At no point did he tell me why- yesterday he got angry with my polite but insistent questions, and said "you know, I dont have to put up with a common criminal" and hung up on me. Today, he called again (I guess he thought I would forget), and said he had not heard from my lawyer yet. I reminded him he had hung up on me and asked for his number. I had him repeat his number twice: he said I was "slow" and needed a hearing aid. He then rambled about my "shy" lawyer, and asked "who named you" "its a stupid name", and swore a couple of times. Laughable if it wasn't so disturbing. Once I verified the phone number, I hung up.
I received a call from this man. He had some kind of foreign accent, and claimed that a law suit had been filed against me. He wanted my company fax number so that he could send me a notice of court date against me. A couple of years ago, I received a call from the same kind of outfit saying that my payday loan had not cleared, and they asked me to fax and sign a promise to pay them by a certain time. I later learned that my payday loan had cleared, and this was a scam to get about a thousand dollars out of me. I went to my bank and reversed the charges. I have been getting calls from them ever since. I know that this is a scam. I told this individual that this was a scam and not to call me at work.
A man called today stating that there was a pending action against me and asked for my attorney number. When I inquire about the state and court he stated Calif and stated my attorney had 30mins to call him back. When I asked which court in Calif and the case number and docket number he began to get very hostile stating I couldn't afford an attorney and he would through me back in the river in Africa. I hung up the phone and blocked his number.
