•If you don’t owe taxes, call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.
thanks, for the info. I also got a similar call few times in my home phone number where someone named James Marshall called from 818-239-6259 saying that he is from investigation dept.
@Rosalie It takes time to track them down when they use spoof numbers, and in most cases these are foreign criminals in other country's. Sometimes those country's will co-operate, but in most cases, they couldn't care less unless they accidentally arrest them for one scam and it turns out they are doing others. It happens though! :) Your best defense now day's is buying a call blocking device or phone.
