Today I received a call (which I ignored) that resulted in voice message stating that a case had been filed against me on my name and SSN. And demanded that I do not ignore the message and call back the number with my lawyer! The caller did not provide any specifics about for what the case is and he did not even state my name. How are these people getting phone numbers? Do they just pick a random number and call?

I received the exact same phone call today on my answering machine!!! WTH? Caller said he was "Officer Craig Miller" but he sounded Middle Eastern with a thick accent. Did not sound like a Craig Miller to me! And he said if I ignored the call he doesn't know what is going to happen to me. LOL But, he didn't have my name, or any specifics of my so called case either.
Obviously some where in India, the number is a Washington DC but you can buy a magic jack and use it at any country so when calling it appears as if it is from Washington DC, however, reporting to FTC may help in looking after the address and locate the guy
I received the same voice message today (7/11). Officer Craig Miller from Criminal Investigations (did not say of what) demanding an immediate call back for a case getting filed against my name and SSN. He said "Do not ignore this message or else case will move forward and God Bless". He had a foreign accent - either middle eastern or Indian.
