Company is impersonating Internal Revenue Services.

DO NOT ANSWER.

Easy to know it's a scan as they answer the call on first few rings & directly get an operator. I have never experienced this with IRS or any government agency - usually it's a 30 minute wait.

•If you owe federal taxes, or think you might owe taxes, hang up and call the IRS at 800-829-1040. IRS workers can help you with your payment questions.
•If you don’t owe taxes, call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Some a-hole with a thick foreign accent called, claiming to be an IRS Auditor, and claimed I had apparently ignored a legal notice from the IRS. The said legal notice supposedly should have been answered within 60 days. Since I didn't respond (and they claim to have proof of delivery signature) within that time frame, he said an arrest warrant would be issued unless I turned myself to the local police within the next sixty minutes. I was given a specific warrant id. If I didn't turn myself in, I was going to be summoned to court "tomorrow morning". All of it with an air of authority that would scare the bazookas out of an uninformed person.

Well, I was fairly certain, within a few minutes, this was fraud. Nevertheless I called the IRS and verified that no such legal notice was sent to me. Also contacted the police department and lodged a complaint at the www.tigta.gov web site.

Pity that some low life forms would create such elaborate scams and waste people's time.

I experienced the same thing. It appears there several perps working this scam from the same number. A voice - sounding like an older person left me a voice mail with the name Will Johnson. My call back was answered on the first ring by Garry Stevens. He represented his address to be 77 K street NE, Washington DC20002. I got the same speech as John... I think they are using a Magic Jack number with a DC area code.

Same thing happened to me yesterday.  First call was from a woman with a Chinese accent.  Sounded real, since they didn't ask for anything at first.  Just informing me that I was in default and a warrant would be issued for my arrest.  When I called back later for more information, I got someone who identified himself as Garry Stevens.

They are trying to get you to bring cash to a specific IRS office at a specific time.  Evidently, if you do this, you will be accosted by someone before you enter the office who will know that you are carrying significant amounts of cash.  I was told this by an IRS official after I checked up on it.

This is a really pernicious scam.
