Call reportedly from IRS criminal division alleging that I had falsified returns over the past seven years and owed $4000. Treatened with arrest and confiscation of assets. I insisted in receiving complaint in writing. Person hung up.
Got the same message, called back, IRS Criminal Investigator, claiming I owed money 2007-2012 of 4700 plus penalty. Told me they had tried to deliver to my home and I was not there, so they were going to download to local office, and I would be arrested. spent 45 minutes trying to get thru to real IRS finally determined was totally bogus
I just rec'd a message from this number to call back in regards to IRS matter. It was automated. I believed it was due to Student Loans that I'm working out payments on. When I returned call the man said his name was "Ray Miller" but had a middle easter accent. He informed that he was calling because I was going to be arrested today on 3 counts. 1-Violation of Federal Rules and Regulation 2- Income Tax Fraud 3- Attempting to steal money from the IRS for non payment of taxes. Proceeded to tell me that all of my assets would be frozen, house, cars, bank account etc and I would serve up to 5 years in prison. He said it was back taxes from 2007-2013. I told him I know nothing of this matter and had not rec'd anything in the mail. He gave dates that they supposedly tried to reach me at my house. I asked for the address and he would not give me any information. I insisted on an address. When he provided it, it was an address that I have not lived at in well over 10 years. When I told him I thought this was a scam he became aggitated and wanted to know why I thought it was a scam. I told him to give me his supervisor or provide me with a number to the IRS that would very. He gave me the 1-800-829-1040 and promptly told me that within the hour all my information would be downloaded to the local authorities and I would be arrested. I file my taxes through a CPA firm. I have a call into my local police department and will be filing a complaint with the IRS.
