Called our office, asked for Dr. Claimed to be from legal affairs. After explaining that dr was with patient and unavailable left number. It seemed suspicious so we called the # back, we hung up when we heard it was the dept of treasury in dc. Immediately after we called back, they called us back and said we need to have dr call us immediately, We then new it was a scam. Do not answer calls from this # and report it. The IRS will send you a certified letter. They will not call you.
I will Appreciate if you all please research and then put any comments like this..i received the same call and responded and told them this isn't true by going according to these comments and i received a verification call from my local authority to got served with the papers and was asked to be in custody..M glad that my sister-in-law is a lawyer who has arranged a bail documentation for me..So please don't leave fake comments just for the sake because of this anybody can be in mess..
Unbelievably stupid attempt to shill. You were "asked to be in custody"? Really? Who asked you? You got a "verification call from your local authority"? What authority? Local authorities in the US have nothing to do with federal income taxes. You got bail? For what offense? Tax disputes in the US are mostly civil matters.
You fools ought to do more research before you do these scams. You bloody Indian scammers make me ill!
Thankfully fewer and fewer people in the US are falling for your stupid scams.
The English of DDS McRoberts is enough to tell you who this really is. Don't fall for this scam, even though these scammers may have a tiny bit more sophistication than the usual BS Indian/Pakistani scammers.
I received a call from (208) 265-1937 on July 17, 2014 on my cell phone. Heavy Asian male accent, asked to speak to me. Said he was from the department of legal affairs, would not say which organization. Said I had to call (202) 280-7079 for more information because of a legal action pending against me. Weird. So I called the (202) number, another guy with heavy asian accent answered "legal department". He would not fully identify himself or organization. I told him to send me an email and hung up......
Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.
