Said, we frauded the IRS IN 2004, 2007, 2008 etc; and all our property will be seized, we will be arrested and jailed - a scam. We have always done our IRS taxes honestly. Beware.
There's no way to stop them from initiating calls since they are in India. You can protect yourself with call blocker. They always use spoofed number with area code of 202 so people will think they are calling from Washington DC.
Total scam. IRS does not initiate proceedings by phone or e-mail.
I received 3 similar messages on my answering machine telling me to not disregard this or litigation could proceed. It was a heavy accented man so I'm not sure if he said his name was David Martin (like I thought I heard) or Damon Marshall as several have reported name to be, but he was asking for someone with my first name, but a different last name other than mine. I listened to the message several times, and have yet to understand about 1/3 - 1/2 of his message, but knew this had to be a scam because the dealings I have had with the IRS were all through mail correspondence and everything was something in my favor. An individual in a state of confusion who may get a similar message might give him a call back and really think they were in trouble and panic. One could be in a state of confusion with a migraine, Alzheimer's, etc.
Received a call this morning from a man with heavy accent and said I have issues with the tax filed. He claims that they are the Federal Tax investigation unit, IRS. He asked me to call 202-280-7395 and ask for Damon Marshall but yet when I asked him for the Reference number or the Claim number that I can refer to when I call, he said, "what?". What a Joke, beware.
IRS will not call you, they use snail mail. beware.
Received a call on 10 Apr from 202-280-7395 from a man with a very heavy accent claiming to be from IRS. And he asked I return his call immediately as there were problems with my tax returns. He said to call immediately to avoid a serious penalty. I could not easily understand him and he sounded like he may be from India. Googled this and found out it is a huge scam. IRS will always send a letter first.DO NOT RESPOND.
