IRS scam threatening jail due to tax fraud. I have to call a number to get it cleared up. I laugh at these since I use an accountant and have filed every year of my life! I feel bad for others who get these phone calls and think they are real.
This is a scam. As a tax professional (Enrolled Agent), I can assure you that IRS would not contact someone in this manner to tell them they are being investigated for fraud. They left a message on my phone with the number showing. It sounded like a robo call.
Returned their call and was told I had a 2012 tax return that was audited and I owed money ,I asked what I could do to fix the situation and the person said nothing I could do,so I asked then they are coming to arrest me he said yes I then told him he would have to arrest his mother because she way here next to me having sex ! He hung up
