I received a call from a man with a Mid Eastern saying he was from Microsoft. THeir system shows my computer has been hacked.
You know the routine.....
Just received a call from these aggravating people. (I'm being nice now). A guy with a n accent and who I could barely understand, started off his spiel about the call concerning my computer. Needless to say I've heard all their bull before. He was lucky I'm at work, because at home I would have blown my whistle until he screamed. You can tell these idiots to take you off of the calling list until the cows come home and yet they continue to call. By the way, the whistle stopped another caller from calling back, that is unless they are using another number. Anyways, this isn't anything but another scam. I just wish I knew how to permanently block these calls.
Don't kid yourself thinking your blowing a whistle chased the caller off. Perhaps that particular character won't call again, but the fact they're getting an answer, be it manual or automatic, allows them to pass your number on as an active one. If you're able to do it, mainly at home, ignoring unknown numbers completely (answering device included), may bring you better luck. Whistles serve the receiver more than chasing off the caller.
Heard what sounded like 'boiler room' noise in the background, no response when I said hello. Yes, I'll probably get caller ID sooner rather than later.
