Got the call from someone with an Mid-eastern accent telling me I was going to prison for 5-9 years and pay $100,000.00 in fines and a sheriff deputy was coming to my house to arrest me for defrauding the gov.-Didn't give him any information. Now that I think about it....why would the IRS call me and not send official documents to my home address? It's a scam alright!!
The message left when somebody from 202-370-7660 called me at 10:46 am January 28, 2015 sounded like a recording. It was a female voice that sounded like she had a lisp. Probably it was a computer voice program and it really could have been from a man. They said they were with the Internal Revenue Service and that I needed to call the IRS Hotline immediately, at 202-370-7660, or they were threatening to take legal action against my name. I posted a video of that scam phone call. Next thing? The scammers saw that video! I got a second phone call at 3:55pm January 29th. This time it was a male voice who told me he saw the video ... and then he said, "and you are a [***] [***]." I posted a video of that second phone call. A little more than an hour later, 5:08pm January 29th, the same male voice calls back after ringing the phone at least 10 times in quick succession. He says my name, age, race, address, and says that I am in danger! He uses a few more expletives and then hangs up.
Same thing happened to me just a few minutes ago. Mechanical voice. I had had a few other calls a couple months ago from an actual person, male, with an Eastern Indian accent, who left me voicemail. I have gotten into the habit of checking out phone numbers on the Internet to identify who's annoying me on my phone line. Helping each other this way is a good thing! Remember, the IRS will NOT contact you via phone or e-mail, so don't fall for this scam!
