Received message supposedly from IRS at 7:02AM yesterday-the lawsuit threat, call immediately, etc. It sounded like a computer-generated recorded message and instructed to call department number back and then went on to repeat the number 208-378-4907 twice. I did not call it back and it is obviously yet another scam and is a number I will now block. One more thing-the call came from a cell phone, location Washington DC!
Received call today - called back and spoke with a female with foreign accent. Stated this was final notice and I owed almost $4,000.00 and if I didn't pay, I'd be facing up to 3-5 years of prison. I asked why this was the first I am hearing of this and why I did not recieve any certified mail from the IRS. She stated that it went to the address on file. I told her it didn't and that I couldn't understand her very well, so I demanded to speak with a supervisor and she hung up on me promptly. Now when you call the number back - it just rings.
I knew this was a scam, but wanted to see what they would say. The weird thing is they knew my first and last name from my number. Very strange! I hope people don't fall for this crap and these crooks get caught running these scams!!
