Since these calls are now a trend the american public has to deal with, I have in fact contacted the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) on many occasions. I received letters back essentially thanking me for the information and telling me the Commission issues citations and in some cases, imposes substantial fines upon entities that violate telemarketing. The letter goes onto say the Commission does not resolve individual complaints and the complaints assists them in enforcement actions. It also tells you that you have the right to sue the violators in state courts where they may be awarded up to $1500 for each violation. FCC also suggest you comntact your local carrier and request their internal annoyance call bureau or similar department for further assistance. I did this, and was told there really isn't much they can do about it. In this regard, it appears all of us are on our own. We cannot receive protection from the FCC agency, nor can we get help from our local carriers. With all the technology we have in this world, for some unknown reason, we cannot stop these morons and live peacefully in our own homes. We will continue to be subjected to receiving these unwanted calls. Yes, we can decide to not answer the phone, or we can answer the phone and request the caller stop calling. Yes, I know. Wishful thinking.
Numerous phone calls from ALA. Latest one was 8:05 this morning. Cannot block the call because every time they use a different prefix (202-391, 202-350, 202-370, etc). As I always let my answering machine pick up, these guys have never left a message
Getting a call every evening from this phone number. If I answer just beeps. Usually I don't answer and they leave no message. I finally called back and as the other user said it is the American Lung Association. The caller ID simply shows Washington DC on my end. I requested they remove me from their list per their prompts and got a message that said this could take up to 30 days although they would "try" to handle my request as soon as possible. I am so sick of these types of calls
I've been getting calls for about a week now so I answer today just to see who it was it sounded like air. Nothing else. It was really weird and I found out that the phone is a cell phone from Washington, D.C. But that's all I know.
