Since these calls are now a trend the american public has to deal with, I have in fact contacted the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) on many occasions. I received letters back essentially thanking me for the information and telling me the Commission issues citations and in some cases, imposes substantial fines upon entities that violate telemarketing. The letter goes onto say the Commission does not resolve individual complaints and the complaints assists them in enforcement actions. It also tells you that you have the right to sue the violators in state courts where they may be awarded up to $1500 for each violation. FCC also suggest you comntact your local carrier and request their internal annoyance call bureau or similar department for further assistance. I did this, and was told there really isn't much they can do about it. In this regard, it appears all of us are on our own. We cannot receive protection from the FCC agency, nor can we get help from our local carriers. With all the technology we have in this world, for some unknown reason, we cannot stop these morons and live peacefully in our own homes. We will continue to be subjected to receiving these unwanted calls. Yes, we can decide to not answer the phone, or we can answer the phone and request the caller stop calling. Yes, I know. Wishful thinking.
Got 3 calls recently. First one, I wasn't home, they left no message. 2nd time, I answered after 1st ring, they hung up without saying anything. Third time they asked for Mrs. Apatell (whoever that is). I told them to stop calling. Caller ID showed Washington, DC
Just got a call from this number at my work. I was with another customer so I asked that they hold. They hung up then called back. I asked them to hold again, they hung up again. It's their dime so I can do this all day long!
Here we go again! A new year and many more new scammers! This number is calling constantly since the new year began. It has a recorded message similar to the one that the FTC hung up on in November. Sounds just like the same female voice recording. It sounds to me like the FTC is nothing more than a toothless tiger that really cannot stop this stuff. Like I said before, I will be getting rid of my land line phones and just use cell phones that I can turn off whenever I don't want to be disturbed. If anyone has a better idea please let me know. In our world of such technology we still don't have what we really need most, our privacy!
