Must be the Washington Post. I canceled my Washington Post subscription a month ago due to relocation, and started getting these calls. I answered a few times but there was no one there.
We got a call from a Spanish speaking woman named Alexa, from that #, who said they are a courier service called Sonic Ear Courier Service, out of Washington D.C., and my husband supposedly won $380,000, and have to insure the package for $3,800, that will be refunded on delivery. The cash award is supposedly coming from Paymasters Cash Awards Co. out of New York, with a number of 718-285-8958. I can't seem to find either company anywhere. Both numbers have Spanish speaking woman, with broken English, that we can barley understand. It sounds like some kind of scam!
We also got a call from adifferent NY # but same story, they are not from this country but claim they are representing the Federal Consumer Protection Agency, even stating that one is an attorney, and all we had to do is send a money gram to a secure bonded agent for insurance and they will being the check to us via, them and a security company sonic air international. Has anyone verified this is a scam or not? Please let us know.
