I DON'T BELIEVE YOU when you say 'you've 'done' it: sued these callers. WHY don't you cite the case number then?
Unless there is a call center in YOUR COURT'S jurisdiction, GOOD LUCK.
You'd be lucky to find one IN THE US. MOST of them are OVERSEAS using SPOOFED U.S. phone numbers. U.S. DoNotCall List IS NOT ENFORCEABLE in that situation. *NO* International laws exist that can protect or compensate the average US 'victim'.
Also, there IS a (US) law on 'how to sue a telemarketer' but it involves asking them TEN QUESTIONS, and most of them HANG UP ON YOU before you can even get to question two or three.
Are you an ATTORNEY? If so, WHY aren't you LEGITIMATELY advertising HERE for all of us who would LOVE to get in on a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against these guys? There is either a MILLION of these outfits out there doing this or just several BIG BAD GUYS who are using a plethera of US numbers (most likely spoofed). Either way, that should be fodder for a smart lawyer to go after BIG BUCKS.

My, my, my...a lot of hostility here. One might think you were trying to deter folks from posting here about their experiences rather than sharing your valuable experiences and all your knowledge gained as a "former legal secretary." What with the verbal abuse and all. If you feel our ignorance is too much to bear, please don't lower yourself to visiting sites like these. You'll give yourself a nosebleed, getting all worked up like that. For those of us unfortantes who don't have all your expertise, these posts are only one of the many ways one learns to protect themselves and their financial info, often by learning about how others failed to do so. So, m'dear, do let those of us who haven't all your legal knowledge at least get support from one another.

I'm just sick of blowhards who CLAIM to be DOING something useful and successful, such as 'suing in small claims court' without ANY FACTS to back up those claims, i.e. Case name, docket number, State, County court name, ruling, dollar amounts, etc. WHY NOT? As long as they use an assumed name, we're not going to know WHO they are or what their income is, RIGHT?
My 'hostility' is toward the SCAM ARTISTS who come to THIS site and try to MISLEAD and GOOF ON the genuine people who are confused and just trying to make sense of these calls and what is leading to them.
The SHORT ANSWER: These calls are generated by those who are paid by BAD PEOPLE:
BAD PEOPLE, including BIG CORPORATIONS, who have figured out ALL the LOOPHOLES on how to CIRCUMVENT the few paltry Consumer Laws we have left after the Republicans have managed to DISMANTLE most of them since the 1920's. BAD PEOPLE who have PAID the POLITICIANS to look the other way, BRIBED and LOADED the Highest Courts with unsympathetic JUDGES, and located many of their call centers OVERSEAS where they are 'untouchable' anyway.
BAD PEOPLE - like you, who would rather attack people who are INFORMED of the situation and trying to spread that knowledge, rather than spread WRONG INFORMATION AND FALSE HOPE.
