Got a phone call today from 202-558-0303 ext 109. We were informed that we won 3.6 million and it would be delivered to our home tomorrow morning 1/27/16 between 9 & 11 am. Gave us a name of a Federal agent, Jake Williams, badge # FC28133. And we would receive a check, 3.6 million, and would be drawn on Bank of America . He would be bringing us the check along with a 1099 tax form. Well we were not born yesterday, been around the block a few times. Just a real joke, ha, ha, ha, for sure.
got a message from above number indicating a Federal otficer stating second call and urgently asked to return call
Stated from Consumer Protection Agency unlisted in reverse look up- JUST DOES NOT LOOK RIGHT.
My senior citizen mom received a call from a so-called agent telling her she won $700k but would need to pay $900 upfront first. I quickly Googled Consumer Protection Bureau and the 202-558 a/c & prefix and landed on this page. Absolutely despise this kind of scam. THERE IS NO PRIZE MONEY, PEOPLE!! NEVER, EVER PAY "FEES" TO CLAIM A PRIZE. The guy who called my mom left a msg on her answering machine (she's old school and over 80), and he sounded foreign - and the connection was hissy sounding, like it was overseas. Since I could not reverse look up the phone number, I'm guessing it's just a US # that is forwarding to some call center across some ocean. Any stranger who asks for money via Western Union or some other untraceable source is a SCAMMER. Hang up and walk away, knowing you dodged a bullet. Take care, and stay aware.
