Got a call / VM message - woman's voice, "We have been trying to reach you, this call is official and final
notice from IRS, the reason of this calll is IRS is filing a lawsuit against you, for more information regarding this, please call our department immediately at 202-580-8423."
I blocked my caller ID and call the 618 area code number, it is disconnected, so it is a spoofed number. I blocked my caller ID again and called the 202 area code, reached a recording asking to leave a message.
Obviously this is a scam -- IRS sends snail mail; they do not use phone. They didn't get me, but I am hoping they won't get any unsuspecting person. So many scammers in the world. I believe in Karma, so I'll drink to that.
I work for the IRS and yes these calls are a scam. When you owe there is a series of letters that is sent and then finally a certified letter before it goes to collections. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY MONEY. DO NOT CALL THEM BACK. YOU CAN REPORT THEM VIA THE IRS.GOV WEBSITE OR CALL 1800-829-1040. Please spread the word as they are targeting the elderly. My 79 yr old mom got one of these calls!!
I received a message on December 10, 2014 from 202-580-8423 stating that it was the ORS and that a lawsuit was going to be filed against me. I Looked on the web only to find it was a scam.
