Just got a call from this number on my cell. They started with "You have been carefully selected to participate in a survey about our nation's debt crisis..." - okay, don't believe it, but go on - "...and for participating in this survey you will receive two tickets for a cruise..." - SCAM SCAM SCAM.
Like JK, got the call on my cell. No message was left, so I checked here, and the number was listed. Big surprise! Anyway, called back and got the recorded message saying the survey expired. Had to hit the "2" key twice, but it seemed to work the second time.
However, like others have said, any "survey" that asks you for a credit card HAS to be a scam. They should be reported to the FTC. I suspect that I'll be getting calls from this number again.
This is some bottom-feeder selling discounted cruises. These scams have been going on for decades, but the hook used to be that you had won the cruise. The "survey" is a feeble effort to get around the Do Not Call list, which exempts surveys, charities and political calls. The way it works is that you will have to pay "fees" and "taxes" added on to the cost of the "free" cruise, which will cost as much, or more, than if you book a cruise through a legitimate travel company.
