I received the same messages... Without a doubt its a scam. Impossible to get paid that much for doing simple errands lol, and he certainly doesn't need 100 assistants unless he's hoping for a fish to bite.
yeah, i got the exact same message. i thought "eric madsen" had mixed up my email with another after responding to a cl ad. the second email didn't make any sense to me either, and is poorly written. i'm glad i found this site and didn't waste anymore time with that scammer, geeze!
Hi guys, I also got a same email from this person Erik, because I applied for a job on Craigslist, then he sent me an email then he asked me for my banks name and address to transfer money to do his work. He also started talking to me on the text about the assignments. Today he transferred $1,900 to my account for his work. He asked me to buy 4 moneypak green dot reloaded cards and add $400 on each of them then scratch them take a snapshot and then send those pictures to him through email. And he told me that from $1,900 there is $300 advance for me to start his task and $29.77 for the gas and then he will pay me $500 late on when I will finish his assignment, and he also said that I will be getting assignment each week and he will pay me $825. So right now I have $300 in my account and from rest I bought him cards. He said that after this assignment he wants to meet me on December 27th for an interview and he didn’t decide for the place yet. When I tried to call on his number it’s a google voice number. Now I don’t know what to do, I mean he paid me already, but I hope once he will call me for the interview, then what will I do? Please guide me and now his number is different than the one that shows here. One more thing, he texts me a lot for his work, he wants to know everything about his work hat how much I have got done and all, he is kind of annoying.
I suspect from the sound of it, he's money laundering.. Green dot cards are untraceable BTW. Either that or he will reverse the payment and you will be out all that money. You should contact the authority's like the FBI ASAP.
If you don't mind Me asking what did this person Erik end up doing? Did he pay you the $500 as he said he would? I too applied to the job posting on CL. I received all the emails everyone else has. He does ask for banks name but not account numbers. I don't think someone can remove money without the account numbers. One can deposit money with only your name & banks name tho.
