Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
We received a call that said unless we paid $2492 we would be arrested, hand cuffed and put into a cell for 72 hours. I asked the person their name, which she said was Officer Janie Beeter, Badge number ACE29. I then told her to send me the information from a tax penalty we had and that we would get in touch with our CPA and go to an IRS agent. She then connected me to her supervisor who stated he didn't care about the CPA and that unless we paid the fee immediately I would be arrested at work and taken to jail. He also said the IRS would freeze out bank accounts, credit cards and contact our employer to freeze our wages until we did pay. Again, I told him to send me the info by certified mail and I would get in contact with the CPA and get back with the IRS. He stated he would not send anything, that I had to pay immediately. By then my husband had looked up the number on internet and, pretty much as suspected, it was a scam. We stated that to him and hung up.
