I was given this number for a free government grant ($10,000) after I refused to give information for a direct deposit. I knew it was a scam,but I was curious when they said I could get the cash money from western union. When they told me they needed a 295 dollar 'processing fee' up front... I told them I didn't have it and they hung up on me.
Wow. These folks called me at work today, and told me that because I was SUCH a GOOD citizen, the gov't was going to bless me with $10,000 - as long as I didn't gamble with it or buy drugs! All they needed was my banking information and/or a prepaid card... and $250 to help with the processing fees. Sounds desperate toward the end to close the sale. Sad that this will probably work with some older folks.
I got this type of call too! from the United States government Financial Department offering $10,000.00 grant for me, to be picked up at Western Union in cash or deposited in my bank account. However, they want $190.00 for taxes. Since I did not have the money, they gave me the option to call back when I have the money.
