Have answered their calls 3x, with no automated message, no person, just silence.
It is very frustrating being called at least 1x a day.
I have put my # on that telemarketers "do not call" list a year ago.
Finally picked up and waited (because you can remove yourself from the list). She finally got on the call, asked for me, I confirmed, then hung up. Ugh, if I wanted what you were offering I'd go and get it.
Caller ID says "PIRG". I pick up and say nothing. They ask for me by my full name. FYI, the phone is not listed in my name. I never say a word.
I call back soon after (using *67 to block my number). I hear the following, "You've reached the state PIRGs and US PIRG (or public interest research group). If you've received a phone call from us at this number, it's because you're on our supporters list, and we're trying to reach you as part of our efforts to stand up to poweful special interests on issues such as consumer protection, health care, and government accountability. We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you as soon as possible. If you would prefer not to be contacted by phone with campaign updates or about your membership with PIRG, please, press 1 now. Thank you, and have a good day." (I never do this as it can make things worse)
I gave to them once on a door to door campaign. They later sold my contact info to "Environmental Massachusetts" and "Environmental America". I later discovered that they also give money to individual candidates who I may or may not support. Based on this behavior, I will not be donating again.
