Received two calls from these people today. Based on what others have reported and the "AICR" that appeared in the Caller ID I'm assuming it's the American Institute for Cancer Research. It's a "charity", though I put that word in quotes because they get a score of ZERO stars on charitynavigator.org (quite an accomplishment!)

I wouldn't call them outright frauds and a total scam, but that's because I'm in an unusually forgiving mood today. Your mileage may differ.
I get calls from the above number every day. No message is ever left. I have caller ID, so I just look at the name(AICR) and delete, delete and delete.
Received calls from this number daily for several weeks - no caller ID, no message left, just silence on the line...no individual or recorded message. I finally called back to give someone an earful and reached a recording that said it was the American Institute for Cancer Research 'calling to provide information about their campaign'. After pushing 1 to 'learn more about the organization' (the only option given at the initial menu), I listened to another recording about the 'organization' and was given an option (3) at the end of the recording to stop receiving calls from them, which I selected. Recording said they had 30 days to take my number off their calling list.. I subsequently filed a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry asking how this is allowed to happen - even if the AICR is a legitimate charity, they should arguably be sanctioned in some manner and receive the message that this approach will only generate negative publicity for their fundraising efforts.
