This number has called several times. Foreign lady just left message she was from IRS and we need to call them back. Will NOT call back. Have had several calls from different Washington DC numbers "claiming" they are the IRS.
Called and said criminal charges had been filed against me. Urgent that I call them back. Called at 5:45 pm and man with heavy accent wanted me to give him information. Sounded like he was doing dishes. I hung up!
Shirley Cruz is her assumed name, say she with I R S criminal investigation, collecting. Money for tax fraud, say will call police to be arrested if money not paid, say they have mailed 2 letter to my address , both were returned to them, so now they are calling.
Multiple calls from this number. Voicemail saying to call back immediately. Same story as others - IRS criminal investigatoin; I am under criminal investigation for tax fraud. Hung up
Message on answering stating IRS criminal division and to call back immediately. It was after 8pm when I got in the house,so I called 8am. Woman with accent said my 1998-2008 returns had been criminally investigated due to complaints filed against me. Said she was going to tell me the charges and was not to interrupt. As she told me the codes, I Googled them (1956, 1989 and 633IH). The only one that came up with anything was 633IH which was Oil Pollution Act and Export Freedom to Cuba. Told they tried to reach me by mail but could not.
She then told me to answer yes or no only to the questions. Ever been arrested, filed bankruptcy or traffic ticket. I said no, no and speeding ticket. She got really angry and told me if I was not going to cooperate the sheriff will be at me door in 45 minutes and I will be detained for a minimum of 72 hours. They were also going to levy all my accounts.
She then asked me if I filed tax returns with a CPA or E-filed and whether I had an attorney. I told her I would be contacting my attorney. CLICK
IRS would never leave a message like that on someone's answering machine. She did not ask me to spell my name nor made any mention about my husband, as we file jointly. I have lived at this address since 1999. My husband called the number and told her we traced her number and she hung up. He called back later and it was busy. He wanted to tell her "the sheriff will be at your door in 45 minutes".
Why is it the NSA can track our phone calls and banking transactions, but can't catch these scammers?
