They left a message saying they were the IRS, and were filing a lawsuit against me. The government is supposed to protect us. They should go after these people!!!
Calls originate in India and Pakistan. Callers spoof local numbers. This is a common IRS scam. They are beyond the reach of US law. Invest in a call blocker and do not pick up on numbers you do not recognize. In any event, the IRS does not file lawsuits. It has enough administrative authority to collect all the lawful taxes owed the federal government without going to court. IRS does NOT initiate contact by phone.
I have received these calls before. I know it's a fraud. Still, it is an attack on American citizens. Of course our government doesn't care. We have to protect ourselves.
