I just had the same type of call come to my office. If I had not pulled up this website while I was still on the phone with them, they might have succeeded in their little scheme. I am curious to know, where is everyone from? I got this call in Marietta, GA.
I was called three times in one week. I was asked by man whose name was Jim (who also had an Indian accent) for authorization to renew my listing for $450. I had a hard time understanding Jim so another man got on the phone. I told him we never had a contract with his company for any type of listing and the only company we deal with for yellow pages is Idearc. This guy then said yellow pages was reorganizing. My wife then got online and viewed others who posted complaints about this scammer. We then reported American Yellow Pages (GoAmericanYellow.com) to our local attorney general/consumer affairs office,

They are a legitimate company, with headquarters in india, and collections department in new york. Once they invoice you, you have to pay, otherwise they will sue you. The Yellow Pages logo and name are not copyrighted, and so they are legit. Hope this helps!
The FTC states that a telemarketer cannot lie to you, and they MUST tell you if the service is non reversable before you are billed. They both lied... by saying we had service with them, and second they never told us before that it was irreversable. I am not too worried.
I to had an employee "verify" info and was played a recording of her. It sounded doctored to me as her response of "yes" was very digitized compared to the rest of her voice. I called to cancel as soon as the bill arrived and was rudely told it was not cancelable. After asking many times for a supervisor and getting no where I told them I was not paying and they should remove the listing and they said they were not going to do that. I'll pay an attorney twice this bill if I have to before they get a dime out of my company! My credit stands on its own and I'll just dispute this if it really does show up. I'll bet it doesn't as their collections department probably is just a scare tactic. ( I have no proof of that obviously ).
