I got the same call a moment ago. The caller sounded Indian and said I was selected to receive $9000 from the government. I told him that it sounded like a scam to me and to please take my number off of the list as I was on the Do Not Call List. He said he understood and we hung up.
I've had many calls from this number trying to tell me about a US government $7,000 grant. I told them I was not interested several times but have been called roughly 4 times a day. They will not quit one even said that I would be in danger when I told them it was a scam and that I did not meet their qualifications to begin with. This has becaome very very irritating however I receive calls from two other numbers just as often at 315 area code and a 602 area code, which sounds like the very same people each person sounded Middle Eastern, certainly from somewhere other than America. They are not to be trusted.
Caller left no message. I did not pick up. I called fhe number back and it appears to be the Red Cross National Headquarters. The question is whether the call I received was truly from the Red Cross or perhaps some VOIP fake?
No message left. Called here several times in the past week or so. I doubt it very much if it IS "American Red Cross", as I haven't given blood in years. From other posts, it's overseas scammers using the American Red Cross in their caller ID.
